Multi-Timbral Audio Synthesizer & Processor

This is a personal project I took on due to my love for synthesizers. It is a customized circuit with user hardware inputs (encoders, buttons, touch screen, MIDI, and audio input.) This configuration allows users to play the device as an instrument or process audio signals which can be routed to the outputs of the device. This task is achieved by utilizing the custom Zynthian operating system, Raspberry Pi 4, and HifiBerry audio hardware.

The project is interfaced with a Raspberry Pi 4 computer and HifiBerry audio interface which is running a customized Linux operating system. The entire configuration is open-sourced and the schematics can be customized to user-liking.

The final product allows users to either play the device as an audio synthesizer (with multiple engines) or process audio input (such as a guitar) through multiple effect chains. This is an ongoing project for me, as I am still figuring out how to customize the setup to my liking.

I began the project using devices that I had laying around but quickly decided to upgrade things such as my original casing, LCD screen, and audio interface.

Some images of the early process can be seen below, which show my frustration in trying to get a screen to display the operating system properly.

More pictures of the soldering process to come.
